A Mother’s Day Highlight: Meet Mama Cynthia and Daughter Florence
Every woman at Global Mamas has a story. Stories of strength, resilience, and transformation. This Mother’s Day, we celebrate one of those powerful stories: that of Cynthia, affectionately known as Maa Cee, and her daughter Florence.
Cynthia joined Global Mamas three years ago after hearing an announcement at the Akuse information center about job opportunities available to anyone, skilled or not. She applied and was offered a role as a cleaner. Since then, she’s become an integral part of the Fair Trade Zone, maintaining a clean and welcoming space and lending a hand in the paper making, body butter, and weaving departments whenever needed.
Now 49 years old, Cynthia reflects on how much her life has changed since she started working with Global Mamas. “This job has brought so many positive changes,” she shares. “I’ve grown, I’ve learned, and I’ve been able to provide better for my children.”
The proudest moment in her journey came when her eldest daughter, Florence, told her she also wanted to work at Global Mamas. “I was overjoyed,” Cynthia says with a smile. “I’ve always prayed for good opportunities for my children, and this felt like an answered prayer.”
Florence joined the Quality Control department in January 2025. For her, the job is more than employment, it’s a dream come true. “I’ve seen how Global Mamas has supported my mother,” she says. “Watching her dedication and hearing everyone praise her hard work inspires me daily. She’s my role model.”
Despite not having the chance to attend school herself, Cynthia ensured her children did. She’s taught them values that go beyond the classroom, especially respect and resilience. “Those traits have shaped my life,” she says. “And I want to pass them on to my children.”
Cynthia doesn’t just see Florence as a daughter; she sees her as a best friend. She checks in on her at work, gently offers her advice at home, and beams with pride every time she walks passed her in the QC department. “It gives me so much joy to see her working hard,” she says. “Motherhood isn’t easy, especially as a single mother. But our children are precious gifts from God. Raising them well is a sacred responsibility, and if you do it right, God will surely bless you.”
Today, the bond between Cynthia and Florence reminds us what Mother’s Day is truly about: love, legacy, and lifting each other up. At Global Mamas, we are honored to support women like Maa Cee, who pour their hearts into both their families and their work.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible women shaping the future, one generation at a time!
