We’re thrilled to launch our new Home ’25/26 collection and take you behind the scenes to one of our most popular new fabrics: Eggs Green!

We begin the batiking process by first designing our stamp and making a stencil for the Mamas ues to trace onto foam. Once we have the stencil and foam ready, the batiking can begin…Martha, a batiker with Global Mamas for over ten years, received the first ever order for our new Eggs Green fabric.

Abraham, Martha’s assistant, starts batiking the first layer of the fabric. Everywhere the wax is applied to the fabric, it will act as a dye resist and keep the dye from penetrating the fabric.

Once dyed, the second layer of stamping can begin. Here the center of the egg is being covered by wax to preserve the yellow color before going into the final dye bath.

Martha has completed the final dye bath (green) and is now hanging the fabric to dry. The final step (not pictured) is to dip the fabric in a vat of boiling water to remove all the wax and expose the final design, this also pre-shrinks our cotton and removes any excess dye. Below are a few of the final products in our Home ’25/26 collection that feature this new, vibrant fabric.
