Each year, we gather to shine a light on the extraordinary Mamas and Papas whose unwavering commitment, incredible talents, and inspiring teamwork fuel our mission. Meet Global Mama of the Year winner, Mavis, a cherished Global Mama since 2004. She is one of the longest-serving producers at the Cape Coast location.

Her commitment to the principles of fair trade is evident in the way she works, and she has shown remarkable growth in product quality over the years. Mavis also takes on a key role in facilitating batik workshops for tourists and volunteers, where she shines with both her skill and warmth. She currently works alongside one worker and one contract worker, nurturing the next generation with patience and care. Her dedication, experience, and consistency make her a truly deserving recipient of the Global Mama of the Year award.

Hubert – Honesty | Cape Coast

Hubert stands out at the Cape Coast location for his integrity and consistency. He takes great pride in ensuring that every product assigned to him meets our high standards, and the producers he supports deeply value his professionalism, especially when it comes to handling fixings and offering solutions. Known for being trustworthy and dependable, Hubert is also a natural problem solver, always ready to assist with both Mama and staff concerns. Whether during meetings or casual chats, he shares his insights openly and respectfully. His honesty and calm demeanor make him a truly valued part of the Cape Coast team.

Christiana – Good Character | Fair Trade Zone

It’s no surprise that Christiana has earned the nickname “Happiness”—her warm smile and kind spirit light up the Fair Trade Zone. She connects effortlessly with visitors, making them feel genuinely welcomed. During the recent Semester at Sea visit, her charm and helpfulness played a key role in the group’s purchase of nearly all the beaded items at the Accra Store. Christiana always carries herself with grace and positivity, treating everyone—staff, Mamas, and guests—with respect and care. Her cheerful nature, consistency, and strong values shine through in everything she does.

Stella – Growth | Fair Trade Zone

Stella’s journey at the Fair Trade Zone is a true example of steady growth and dedication. She is consistently reliable when it comes to picking up and delivering orders and always makes herself available for training on new products. Her willingness to learn and improve has set her apart. She’s currently the only Global Mama at the Fair Trade Zone who can sew the Riviera Dress (shown in Tiles Stone). Stella approaches every opportunity with commitment and care, and her continuous growth over time has been both inspiring and impactful.

Elimax – Community | Cape Coast

Elimax has been with Global Mamas since 2003 and is truly one of our pillars in Cape Coast. For over two decades, she has lovingly prepared meals for more than 500 volunteers, always showing care and hospitality through her cooking. Today, she continues to nourish the Cape Coast staff and has taken on a new role as a cooking workshop facilitator—a journey she began in 2024. Elimax is more than just a talented cook; she is a virtuous woman whose warmth, reliability, and deep sense of community make her a cherished part of the Global Mamas family.

Louisa – Batik Facilitator | Cape Coast

Louisa has been sharing her incredible batik skills with Global Mamas since 2003, and her passion continues to shine through in every workshop she leads. With over 500 tourists having learned from her, Louisa has a special way of making each guest feel welcome and at ease. Her teaching style is full of energy and flair, and she brings both creativity and patience to every session. Lousa’s talent, warmth, and dedication have made her one of our most beloved facilitators in Cape Coast.

Florence – Staff of the Year | Fair Trade Zone

Florence’s dedication to her role is nothing short of inspiring. Over the past year, she has gone above and beyond, leaving Nuaso at dawn and returning late at night to ensure production at the Fair Trade Zone never slows down. She makes regular trips to Accra Central to source quality materials at the best prices, always putting in the extra effort to keep things running smoothly. Florence also builds strong, respectful relationships with both Mamas and managers. Her work ethic, reliability, and team spirit stood out this year, earning her the well-deserved title of Staff of the Year.

Charlotte – Respect | Fair Trade Zone

Charlotte embodies humility, grace, and respect in everything she does. She treats both colleagues and managers with kindness and consideration, always carrying herself with a calm and courteous spirit. One of the things that makes her stand out is how she receives correction or guidance—with gratitude, never resistance. She quietly takes on tasks within and around her department that others might overlook, showing initiative and care without ever seeking recognition. Charlotte’s respectful attitude and dependable nature make her a deeply valued member of the Fair Trade Zone team.

Abigail– Unity | Accra Store

Abigail is a true team player whose positive spirit brings people together. She approaches every situation with optimism and a genuine desire to create harmony. Whether it’s stepping in to support a colleague or helping resolve disagreements with grace, Abigail always leads with empathy and understanding. She’s quick to share in the joys and challenges of others, making everyone around her feel supported and valued. Her consistent efforts to foster unity and togetherness make her a shining example at the Accra store.
