United by our love for the success of African women and guided by our core values of collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, we’ve built a warm and welcoming Global Mamas community. We got to see this community in action as a lively group of European wholesale partners visited Ghana for the first time to experience the heart of our mission. From the start, the excitement was in the air! Staff partner, Faiza, greeted everyone at the airport, setting the tone for a week full of connection, learning, and pure joy. The team started their journey the next day, at our flagship store in Accra, meeting longtime staff member Dorcas and the amazing team. They were wowed by the vibrant selection of handcrafted products and creativity around them! It took no time at all to fill their shopping bags.
Next stop was at the Fair Trade Zone (FTZ), where the Mamas embraced the group with open arms and hearts. It was so clear how much this visit meant to everyone involved. Guests got a chance to explore every department, marveling at the incredible craftsmanship and engaging in heartfelt conversations with the Mamas (and Papas) as they made unforgettable memories. As you can imagine, this behind-the-scenes glimpse left a lasting impression.
While at the FTZ, they got the chance to hone their artistic abilities during the Beadmaking Workshop led by staff partner Moses. Each person crafted their very own recycled glass bead bracelet. It was not just a keepsake; it was a piece of the story behind what makes Global Mamas jewelry so unique!
Bidding farewell to the team at the FTZ, they ventured onto Cape Coast, where the wonderful staff showered the team with energy and excitement. The group quickly jumped into a batik workshop, learning how to create the beautiful fabrics they have adored for many years. They even joined Global Mamas community partner, Ms. Esi, for an authentic cooking class, whipping up delicious traditional Ghanaian dishes together— needless to say, it was a feast! The fun kept going as Mary got everyone up for a lively drumming and dancing session that brought smiles and laughter all around.
Crowning the week was the annual Global Mamas of the Year Celebration. This was a special highlight for everyone. They met the production team, shared a lovely lunch, and cheered as the honorees were celebrated for their hard work and dedication. It was a heartwarming moment of joy and togetherness!
The EU Together Tour wasn’t just a visit; it was a beautiful exchange of culture, gratitude, and inspiration. The Mamas were thrilled to host the team, who left with a deeper appreciation of the people and passion behind every Global Mamas product. This journey truly highlighted the power of our global community and how wonderful it is to connect in person!
