Abigail – Fair Trade Zone – Global Mama of the Year
Abigail has demonstrated exceptional performance in her role as the Lead Weaver and Trainer. Her outstanding leadership qualities have been pivotal in spearheading the careful sorting of scraps at the Fair Trade Zone (FTZ), which resulted in the introduction of three new colorways to our trivet collection: Charcoal, Teal, and Rings Green. Abigail’s guidance and expertise have enabled her team to successfully meet orders for both the local and export markets. Her contributions have significantly advanced the growth of the Sustainable Materials Department, and she is also recognized for her collaborative spirit and dedication as a team player.
Esther – Fair Trade Zone – Honesty
Esther has exemplified consistency and diligence in her role as the Inventory Manager for bead assembly over the past year. She carefully ensures that the correct beads are delivered promptly when orders are placed, maintaining a smooth and efficient workflow. Esther also plays a crucial role in upholding fair trade practices by guaranteeing that bead producers receive the correct payments for their work. Her commitment to building and nurturing strong relationships with these producers has not only fostered trust but also strengthened the collaborative spirit within the Global Mamas community.
Sylvester – Fair Trade Zone – Good Character
Sylvester is known for his excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude towards work. His willingness to assist in any way possible ensures that operations at the FTZ run smoothly and efficiently. Sylvester’s strong sense of teamwork, combined with his approachable nature and constant smile, makes him a valued member of the team and a pleasure to work with.
Gladys – Fair Trade Zone – Growth
Gladys’s journey at the FTZ is a testament to her remarkable growth and dedication. Starting as a cleaner, Gladys has steadily advanced to become the Lead Quality Control staff member, a role in which she excels. Her adaptability and resourcefulness shine through as she frequently steps in for the inventory manager during absences, ensuring that operations continue smoothly. Gladys’s contributions have been invaluable in meeting production demands, demonstrating her commitment to the success of the team and her continuous personal development.
Papermaking – Fair Trade Zone – Cooperation
The Papermaking Department has demonstrated remarkable dedication to their work, continually learning and perfecting new products, including journals and other paper items. Over the past year, the team has worked cohesively, showing excellent cooperation with their manager. This strong teamwork and collaborative spirit have played a crucial role in successfully introducing Global Mamas paper products to the EU and US markets.
Tenya Hyacinth Harvesters – Fair Trade Zone – Community
The Tenya Hyacinth Harvesters have been extremely dedicated to supplying high-quality hyacinth to Global Mamas, significantly enhancing the production of woven products. Despite facing numerous challenges, including severe flooding that swept away much of the hyacinth in their area, the community has remained consistent and reliable. Their commitment and resilience in the face of adversity have been instrumental in sustaining and advancing the production process.
Ruth – Accra – Staff of the Year
Ruth is very committed to her role. She stepped in to manage shipments during her co-worker Starlet’s maternity leave, ensuring a smooth workflow. Additionally, Ruth demonstrated exceptional flexibility and support by reporting to work for several hours to assist a group from Ahanti Tours who arrived early in the morning while she was on vacation. Her willingness to go above and beyond has made a significant impact and exemplifies her dedication to her role and the organization.
Abigail – Cape Coast – Unity
Abigail stands out for her unique ability to handle issues with a sense of humor and without taking things personally. Her talent for diffusing misunderstandings and making people laugh helps maintain a positive and cohesive team environment. A key strength of Abigail’s is her commitment to teamwork, and she shows respect to everyone she interacts with—whether staff, producers, or volunteers. Her approach fosters unity and creates a supportive atmosphere for all involved.
Philomina – Cape Coast – Respect
Philomina consistently exemplifies respect and a positive attitude in her role. She embraces challenges with joy and always shows respect to every staff member. Philomina actively encourages the Quality Control staff to support and care for one another, fostering a collaborative environment. Her willingness to learn and her commitment to meeting deadlines further highlight her dedication and respect for her role and colleagues.
Amos – Global Papa of the Year – Fair Trade Zone
Amos consistently demonstrates excellence in all aspects of his work. His commitment to growth, strong character, honesty, respect, unity, and hard work are evident in everything he does. Beyond his visible contributions, Amos often works behind the scenes to ensure the smooth operation of the FTZ, going above and beyond to keep things running smoothly. His dedication and exemplary qualities set a high standard and inspire those around him.
